You might think I'm going to tell you to turn down your heating, put a jumper on and turn your lights off... all of which will save you energy and your hard earned cash but im not going to do that. I am simply going to show you how you can reduce your energy bill without telling you how you should live your life.
The simple answer is you can save an average of 35% off by simply moving to Octopus Energy and switching to their tracker tariff. It’s that easy! The tracker tariff follows the market wholesale price which has been continuously lower and is continuing to fall compared to the fixed price cap.
It’s been one year since I switched to the tracker tariff and comparing my usage I have actually used considerably more electric and gas yet ended up paying less compared to the previous year. The average price for Electric on the tracker tariff was 0.18p pkwh compared to 0.29p pkwh with fixed price cap and the average price for Gas was 0.05p pkwh compared to 0.08p pkwh. For me that added up to a big saving of around £385 compared with being on a flexable price cap tariff.
How do I switch and move to the tracker tariff?
If you’re already with Octopus Energy then you simply need to email Octopus and tell them you would like to switch. You can always switch back if the market price changes but you cannot rejoin again until after 9 months. A smart meter is required for the tracker tariff but should be installed for free by Octopus if you have not got one.
Not with Octopus and want to earn some extra cash?
Great news you can sign up using my referral link. You will receive £50 credit and I will pay you up to £30 on top!
